Bunyawi Thamchait Advances To Round Of 16 Of ITA National Fall Championships

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team continued its tournament run in the 2019 ITA National Fall Championships on Thursday in both singles and doubles play. No. 67 Bunyawi Thamchaiwat and No. 43 Lisa Marie Rioux competed in singles play, while Thamchaiwat and Dariya Detkovskaya competed in consolation doubles and Rioux and Ayumi Miyamoto played in the round of 32 in doubles.
No. 67 Bunyawi Thamchaiwat upset No. 46 Katarina Kozarov of Furman, 6-4, 6-2 in the round of 32, which pushes her into the round of 16. No. 43 Rioux lost her match to No. 79 Shiora Fukuda of Ohio State, 6-4, 6-2. Detkovskaya also dropped her first consolation match of the tournament to No. 22 Solymar Colling of San Diego, 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles, Thamchaiwat and Detkovskaya defeated Ahmeir Kyle and Emily Thomas of Xavier in consolation play, 7-6, 6-4. Rioux and Miyamoto advanced to the second round of doubles, but they lost their match to UCLA's Jada Hart and Elysia Bolton, 6-4, 6-3.
