Cowgirls Battle No. 1 Oregon In 89-72 Loss

ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season on Thursday, falling to top-ranked Oregon on the first day of action at the Paradise Jam.
After the Ducks (5-0) raced out to a 34-13 lead after the first quarter behind a 59 percent shooting effort from the floor, the Cowgirls (5-1) won each of the final three quarters.
In the second, Oregon stretched the lead to as many as 26 before OSU started to battle back, closing the half on a 10-4 run to trail 47-27 at the break.
The Ducks pushed the lead to 29 at 60-31 before OSU made another run, outscoring them 19-9 to close out the period.
The Cowgirls clipped the margin to 14 on three occasions in the fourth, but could get no closer.
Junior Natasha Mack scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to log her fifth career double-double, while classmate Vivian Gray added 17 points, six rebounds and a team-high three assists.
Ruthy Hebard finished with 30 points and 18 rebounds to lead the way for Oregon.
OSU will take on No. 8 Louisville tomorrow at noon (CST).
