Wolfberg And Gulihur Start Competition At Dickie V Clay Court Classic

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. - Catherine Gulihur and Alana Wolfberg opened up play at the Dickie V. Clay Court Classic on Friday in both singles and doubles play of the tournament.
Freshman Cowgirl Alana Wolfberg opened up play with a first-round win over Mariza Zacarias from Appalachian State, 6-2, 6-4. This pushed Wolfberg into the second round where she would win another match against South Florida's Alexandra Mjos, 6-3, 6-1.
Gulihur competed in singles play but would split her matches on Friday. She lost her first match to Chloe Kuckelman from Nebraska, 6-2, 6-2. However, she would bounce back and win her second match of the day over Boston College's Loren Haukova, 6-2, 6-3.
Wolfberg and Gulihur claimed the No. 1 seed in the tournament and showed why after winning their only match of the day. The Cowgirls defeated Virginia Tech's duo of Natalie Novotna and Shene Disbergen, 8-4.
The Cowgirls will now compete in the semifinals of doubles play on Saturday against Nebraska at 9:00 a.m. (CST). Wolfberg will face off against Nandini Sharma from UCF at 10:30 a.m. (CST) in her third match of the tournament, while Gulihur will compete in another back-draw match against an opponent that is to be determined.
