Cowboys Defeat Rogers State In Exhibition Meeting

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State men's basketball team took down Rogers State, 75-63, in its only exhibition game of the year on Friday night in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
In his first appearance for Oklahoma State, Kalib Boone set the tone with an impressive all-around statline. Boone logged 13 points, six blocks, six rebounds and three steals on Friday. His points, rebounds and blocks were all game highs; Lindy Waters III led the way for the Cowboys with four steals on the night.
Rogers State managed to make an 11-2 run with 6:13 left in the half to close the gap to one, but the Cowboys never surrendered their lead outside of the opening basket from the Hillcats. The Cowboys held the Hillcats to just 32% shooting from the field in the first half of the game to go into the break with a 37-29 lead.
The Cowboys went on a 9-0 with 12:29 to go in the first half to jump out to a 12-point lead, which was capped off by a Kalib Boone alley-oop dunk. The largest lead of the game came for the Cowboys after OSU went on a 23-4 run with 5:39 remaining in the game to put them up by 22. Rogers State would never get the gap under 12 points for the remainder of the game.
Oklahoma State dominated Rogers State in fastbreak points throughout the entire game and finished with a 22-12 advantage in that area. OSU also blocked 10 shots compared to just two blocks from the Hillcats.
Avery Anderson, Jonathan Laurent, Chris Harris Jr., Keylan Boone, Kalib Boone and Hidde Roessink each made their first appearance in a Cowboy uniform on Friday. They combined for 44 points on the night led by Boone (13) and Roessink (13).
The Cowboys open the season at 7 p.m. on Wednesday against Oral Roberts in Stillwater. Tickets for the season opener can be purchased at okstate.com/tickets.
