Qualifying Draw Of ITA All-Americans Begins For Multiple Cowgirls

TULSA, Okla. – Multiple Oklahoma State Cowgirls began play in the qualifying draw of the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. on Monday in both singles and doubles play.
Bunyawi Thamchaiwat began match play in singles against Anna Riedmiller of Denver and picked up a win, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Ayumi Miyamoto was the second and final singles match of the day for OSU and defeated her opponent, Bojana Markovic of Hawaii, 6-0, 7-6(10).
Three sets of Cowgirls took part in doubles play on Monday. Alana Wolfberg and Catherine Gulihur, the No. 27 duo in the country and the top seed in the tournament, fell to Akanksha Bhan and Paulina Ferrari of Columbia, 8-6. Ayumi Miyamoto and Lisa-Marie Rioux paired up to take on Morgan Coppac and Meg Kowalski of Georgia but lost that match, 8-7(5). The last OSU doubles team of Dariya Detkovskaya and Bunyawi Thamchaiwait played twice on Monday; they defeated the Wake Forest pairing of No. 47 Carolyn Compana and Chandler Carter, 8-7(5) and then the Kansas State duo of Karine-Marion Job and Maria Linares 8-6.
Tuesday, Thamchaiwat and Miyamoto will both play one match of singles to qualify for the main draw of the tournament. They will be followed by Detkovskaya and Thamchaiwat's third doubles match that will give them a chance at qualifying as well.
