No. 3 Cowgirls Fall at No. 9 Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif. -Â Oklahoma State's third-ranked equestrian team fell to No. 9 Fresno State, 14-5, Friday at the Student Horse Center.Â

"The score today is not evident of what this team is really capable of," coach Larry Sanchez said. "We are going to learn from the mistakes that were made and come out ready for our meet tomorrow against UC Davis."

The meet started with Fences and Horsemanship, with FSU taking Fences, 4-1. OSU freshman Sydney North secured her third win on the season, defeating Annastasia Anstead, 77-40, while Abigail Brayman narrowly fell to Erica Rosinski, 81-83. Â

In Horsemanship, Sydnee Gemar earned her first victory of the season in an MOP performance, winning 76.5-75. Emma Verplank's undefeated streak came to an end, losing by half a point to Hannah Buijs, 69-68.5. Freshman JoJo Roberson came within striking distance of taking her point, but it went to the Bulldogs'Â Hannah Way, 74-73.5.Â

The second half of the meet began with Flat. Brayman received MOP honors for her 85-78 victory over Ana Bertozzi, and Hannah Janson ended the event with a Cowgirl victory, besting Brooke Nelson, 83-80. Katie Schell's undefeated streak came to an end in a 75-80 defeat.

Reining ended the day, with FSU taking the event, 3-1. Cowgirl Kristi Wiggins improved to 1-1 on the season after defeating Julieanne Kelley, 72-68.5, in an MOP performance. Hannah Lovrien came within a point of defeating Lexee Padrick, but the Bulldogs took the point, 70.5-69.5. Hannah Mitchell's streak of dominance came to an end following a 70.5-69.5 loss to Paige Barton.Â

The Cowgirls will conclude their road trip Saturday as they take on UC Davis in Davis, Calif.
