STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team held on down the stretch on Sunday to defeat TCU, 75-71, earning its first Big 12 win of the year in front of 2,056 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The Cowgirls (10-3, 1-1) got four quick points from freshman Ja'Mee Asberry, including a layup at the buzzer, to lead 19-13 after one quarter.
Halfway through the second, senior Maria Castro drilled a trey for the corner to extend an OSU run to 8-0 and its lead to 31-15. The lead would grow to as many as 18 before the Horned Frogs (11-2, 1-1) would trim the margin to 40-31 at the break.
Asberry hit a floater from the baseline with 6:26 to go in the third to extend OSU's lead to 48-38 before TCU answered with a 7-0 run of its own.
In the fourth, the two teams exchanged the lead on multiple occasions, before sophomore Vivian Gray's jumper put the Cowgirls back in front for good with five minutes to go.
The Cowgirls led 72-65 with 1:28 on the clock, but TCU scored four points in 30 seconds and got within two with three ticks left before Gray knocked down a pair of free throws to seal the win.
Gray poured in a career-high 27 points, while Asberry added her career best, finishing with 14.
TCU's Jordan Moore led all scorers with 26 in the game.
