Montgomery Named A JWOS Preseason All-American
January 30, 2019 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State softball standout Madi Sue Montgomery was one nine Big 12 athletes to be named in the Justin's World of Softball Preseason All-Americans list, which was announced Wednesday afternoon.
Montgomery is coming off perhaps her best collegiate season yet, as the 2018 campaign saw her hit 15 home runs to break the decade-old OSU single-season home run record. The Burleson, Texas, native also drove in 68 runs, ranking sixth nationally, second in the Big 12 and falling just three shy of Oklahoma State record in that category.
The left-handed hitter's 15 home runs and 68 RBI powered the most potent offense in school history last year, and of her 67 hits a year ago, 31 resulted in extra bases. She owns two of the top three single-season RBI totals in the Cowgirl record books and is just 10 home runs and 10 RBI shy of matching the program's best marks in those categories.
Montgomery enters her senior season as a three-time All-Big 12 performer that has also twice earned the nod as an NFCA All-Region selection. She has started all 182 possible games during her Cowgirl career thus far, and has the opportunity set the OSU records for most games played, most games started and most consecutive games started this year, among several other records she is currently chasing.
