Date Set For Annual CVC Birthday Bash

STILLWATER, Okla. — The American Cancer Society has branded itself as "The Official Sponsor of Birthdays," with a goal of celebrating more birthdays among cancer patients.
At Oklahoma State, the party is on, again.
The Sixth Annual OSU Coaches vs. Cancer Birthday Bash is set for Sunday, Sept. 16, 2-4 p.m., inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Sponsored by the OSU Foundation, the Birthday Bash celebrates children who are battling, or have battled, cancer. It is open to those children and their families.
"In my mind, Coaches vs Cancer is one of the very best things we do at OSU," said Larry Reece, senior associate athletic director for development. "The Birthday Bash is our chance every year to celebrate together and say, 'You are not alone, we fight cancer as an OSU family!'"
Registration for the event, which is required, can be done at https://cvcbirthdaybash.eventbrite.com.
The afternoon features games and birthday cake, with a variety of OSU student-athletes and coaches assisting in the fun. Each sport has a station set up with games, and the kids will move from station to station, engaging in activities like "Pin the Tail on Bullet," Nerf gun wars, giant corn hole and shooting hoops with the basketball teams, among others.
T-shirts will be provided, featuring "Pistols Firing" artwork created by Hadly, a young survivor currently battling leukemia.
Pistol Pete, the OSU spirit squad, voice of the Cowboys Dave Hunziker and popular public address announcer Larry Reece will direct the day.
Additional sponsors – Eskimo Joe's, Eskimo Joe's Promotional Products Group, OSU Athletics, Route 66 PhotoBooth, Food Pyramid, Shake Rattle & Roll, Plan It Events, Marco's Pizza, Raising Cane's, Joy In the Cause and the American Cancer Society – are also contributing time and support to enhancing the event.
