Lisa Marie Rioux Takes Mixed Doubles Title

STILLWATER – Cowgirl Lisa Marie Rioux and partner Yuya Ito (Texas) claimed the mixed doubles title in Malibu on Saturday evening in an 8-3 victory against Baylor's Sven Lah and Michaela Bayerlovah (Washington State). Rioux and Ito advanced to the finals after the pair's semifinals opponents withdrew Friday.
Four Cowgirls continued play in Milwaukee Saturday morning beginning with Catherine Gulihur besting Oklahoma's Martina Cappuro 6(0)-7, 6-2, 6-3.
Katie Stresnakova was forced to withdraw due to injury, which placed teammate Marina Guinart in a semifinals match with Gulihur. The senior took the match, 6-2, 6-0 and is headed to finals tomorrow. Guinart faces off with Silvia Ambrosio (Purdue).
The Cowgirls also claimed a spot in the doubles finals when Sofia Blanco and Catherine Gulihur defeated OU's Cappuro and Camila Romero, 8-5. The duo is set for a Bedlam finals match with Ivana Corley and Jasmine Asghar.
The women begin doubles play at 9 a.m. with singles to follow at the Al McGuire Arena at Marquette University.
