MANHATTAN, Kan. – Oklahoma State's winning streak reached six Friday night as the 15^th-ranked Cowgirls opened defense of their Big 12 Conference championship with a 3-1 win over Kansas State at the K-State Soccer Complex.

With the win, OSU improves to 9-1-0 to mark its best start to a season since 2012 when the Cowgirls also opened the year with nine wins against just one defeat through 10 games.

OSU recorded each of its goals in the second half as Jaci Jones, Marlo Zoller and Julia Lenhardt found the back of the net for the Cowgirls.

After a scoreless opening half in which they held a 9-4 advantage in shots and put five of those attempts on frame, the Cowgirls got on the board early after intermission.

It was Jones who broke the scoreless affair in the 53^rd minute when she took a pass from Claire Gantzer and blasted a shot from 20-yards out that deflected off a K-State defender and carried to the far post to put OSU up 1-0.

Just 93 seconds later, OSU doubled its lead. Off a free kick, Jones sent the ball into the box to Kim Rodriguez, who dropped it off for Zoller to send a 14-yard shot through the defense to the far post. The goal marked Zoller's team-leading fifth of the season and is a career season high for the senior.

OSU extended its lead to 3-0 in the 71^st minute. This time, the Cowgirls connected for a score off a corner kick as Taylor Olson sent the ball into the box where Lenhardt flicked a header past KSU goalile Emma Malsy, who entered the game third in the NCAA with six shutouts.

The Wildcats (4-4-2, 0-1-0) avoided being shut out with a goal in the 87^th minute as Haley Sutter recorded her first goal of the season.

OSU returns to action Sunday with a 1 p.m. match at No. 24 Kansas.
