CHICAGO – Oklahoma State posted its third-shutout victory of the season Sunday as the 11th-ranked Cowgirls topped Loyola Chicago, 2-0, at Loyola Soccer Park.
With its first road win of the season, OSU improved to 4-1-0, while the Ramblers are now 3-3-0.
Marlo Zoller and Grace Yochum scored goals for the Cowgirls, who outshot Loyola by a 14-11 margin, while Dani Greenlee and Hannah Warner combined for the shutout in goal, with Warner recording three saves.
OSU took the lead in the 20th minute when Haley Woodard took a touch on the sideline and delivered a cross to Zoller, who drilled a shot from 12-yards out to the far post. The goal was Zoller's second of the season as the Cowgirls took a 1-0 advantage.
The Cowgirls took the 1-0 lead into the break after outshooting Loyola by an 8-5 margin over the first 45 minutes.
OSU doubled its lead less than five minutes into the second half when Yochum posted the first goal of her collegiate career, sliding in behind the goalie and sending it in off a Jaci Jones corner kick to put the Cowgirls up 2-0.
Loyola nearly cut its deficit in half in the 74th minute, but Warner made a diving save as she knocked away a shot by Madison Kimball to keep the home team off the board.
OSU returns to action Friday night when the Cowgirls host California at Neal Patterson Stadium before a Sunday home match against San Francisco.
