KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Oklahoma State concluded regular season non-conference play with a 2-1 win over UMKC Sunday at Durwood Soccer Stadium.

The win extended the 20^th-ranked Cowgirls' winning streak to five as they improved to 8-1-0 on the season. OSU begins defense of its Big 12 Conference championship this week.

Grace Yochum's goal in the 76^th minute was the difference against UMKC (7-3-0) as the freshman tallied her third goal of the year. Haley Woodard also scored for the Cowgirls, while Dani Greenlee posted three saves.

UMKC took the game's initial lead in the 16^th minute when Reighan Childers spun an OSU defender near midfield and sent a pass ahead to Lexie Howard, who delivered a low shot to the far post to put the Roos up 1-0.

But OSU did not trail for long as at the 18:15 mark, Woodard took a pass from Julia Lenhardt, juked a defender and sent a shot from the corner of the box top shelf to the far post to knot the score at 1-1.

The Cowgirls nearly went on top in the 28^th minute on a Camy Huddleston header, but her attempt was saved off the crossbar by UMKC goalie Afton Fennewald.

The game went into the break tied at 1-1, with OSU unlucky not to be on top as a shot attempt from close range by Lenhardt deflected off the cross bar in the final seconds of the half.

The second half saw both teams post five shots, but only one of those found the back of the net.

At the 75:49 mark, Kim Rodriguez lofted a corner kick into the box that Yochum was able to direct into the goal to put the Cowgirls up 2-1.

Down a goal, UMKC would manage just one shot the rest of the way, but Kelsey Mothershead's long try at the 88:13 mark was easily saved by Greenlee.

OSU opens Big 12 play on the road Friday night at Kansas State before a Sunday showdown at Kansas.
