Cowboys Face Mizzou In Preseason Exhibition Match In Kansas City

Oklahoma State will face Missouri in a preseason exhibition match tonight at 7 p.m. at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Mo. The game will air live on Stillwater Radio 105.5 FM with Bill Van Ness on the call.
- OSU is coming off a 16-4-3 season in which it claimed the Big 12 crown by going 8-1-0 in league play, tying a program record for conference wins along the way and also advancing to the second round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship for the first time since 2011. The conference title marked the sixth in program history.
- Led by senior All-American forward Haley Woodard, OSU returns 10 players who started at least 12 games last season, and 76 percent of the players who accounted for the Cowgirls' Big 12-best 45 goals in 2017 are also back.
- Woodard led the Cowgirls with eight goals a year ago while Taylor Olson tallied six goals as a freshman. Julia Lenhardt, Marlo Zoller, Jaci Jones and Claire Gantzer each recorded three goals.
- Missouri finished the 2017 season with an 8-12-1 mark, including a 3-7-0 showing in the SEC. Forward Sarah Luebbert returns to lead the Tigers' attack after scoring seven goals and notching eight assists as a sophomore a year ago.
- OSU and Missouri also squared off in a preseason exhibition match in 2017, with the Cowgirls winning a 1-0 contest in Columbia.
- Tonight's match will renew a former conference rivalry, with OSU and Missouri having met on the pitch 18 times previously. The Tigers own a slim 8-9-1 advantage in the series.
- Mizzou played Missouri State in an exhibition match last week and were 6-0 victors in that game.
- OSU opens the regular season Thursday at Tulsa before its home opener on Aug. 19, a non-conference Bedlam showdown against Oklahoma during which the new Neal Patterson Stadium will be officially dedicated.
