WINSTON SALEM, N.C. – The Oklahoma State doubles team of senior Vladica Babic and junior Sofia Blanco advanced to the NCAA doubles semifinals Saturday afternoon, knocking off Winthrop's No. 23 Lauren Proctor and Megan Kauffman.
Â
"I am so proud of Sofi and Vladi for the way they are competing," head coach Chris Young said. "They have improved so much this year and today they executed at a very high level. This is a great time of the year to be still playing and I am excited for them."
Â
For the first time at this year's tournament, Babic and Blanco closed out an opponent in straight sets, dropping Proctor and Kauffman, 6-3, 6-2.
Â
The victory marked the Cowgirl duo's 30th win of the season and 15th over a ranked opponent. Babic and Blanco become the ninth and 10th Cowgirls in the Big 12 era to reach 30 wins in a single season. They became the first OSU doubles team to earn All-America honors on Friday with a three-set win over No. 8 Gabriela Knutson and Miranda Ramirezon of Syracuse
Â
The Cowgirl tandem will take on No. 9 Ellyse Hamlin and Kaitlyn McCarthy of Duke in the semifinals on Sunday afternoon. For further information regarding start time, follow @CowgirlTennis on Twitter.
