Oklahoma State Named Three Seed for NCEA Championships

WACO, Texas - Seedings and matchups for the 2018 National Collegiate Equestrian Association Championship, as determined by the NCEA Selection Committee, were announced Tuesday.
The nation's top 8 teams will vie for the NCEA National Championship, set to take place April 18-21, 2018, at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas. Additionally, the newly expanded NCEA National Championship format will include a team-seeded bracket not to exceed 16 teams in an NCEA format competition for the four Event titles. Event rankings are determined by statistics (Win/Loss; Home/Away; Current Rank of Opponent) of regular season head-to-head competition.
NCEA National Championship Team Seeding
The Cowgirls (10-3, 4-0) received the No. 3 seed and will take on No. 6-seed TCU (8-8, 0-4) in the first round of the tournament. The Cowgirls have already defeated TCU three times this year and an impressive 10-straight times in program history.
NCEA Event National Championships Seeding:
OSU's Equitation Over Fences team received the No. 5 ranking and it will take on No. 12 South Dakota State. Carly Barrick headlines the Fences team; the senior was the Big 12 Equitation Over Fences Rider of the Year. Barrick is 9-3-1 in Fences competition this season.
OSU's Equitation on the Flat team earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament and will take on No. 14 West Texas A&M in the first round. Abigail Brayman is at the forefront of the Flat team after averaging an 88 in the Big 12 Championships to earn Most Outstanding Performer honors for the weekend.
The Cowgirls' Horsemanship team was ranked the No. 4 team in the country and it will face No. 13 Minnesota Crookston. Harley Huff leads the way for OSU as she was the Big 12 Horsemanship Rider of the Year and was the MOP of the Big 12 Championship in that discipline.
OSU's Reining team received the highest seeding as the No. 2 seed in the tournament. The Cowgirls have a bye for the first round and will face the winner of No. 7 South Dakota State or No. 10 Delaware State. Ebba Lange and Hannah Mitchell posted 10-3 records this season and were both named to the All-Big 12 Reining team.
