STILLWATER – Four members of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team have earned spots on the Big 12 Academic All-Big 12 team, the conference announced Tuesday.
Â
Vladica Babic, Sofia Blanco, Megan McCray and Katarina Stresnakova each earned first team recognition. Blanco was one of only eight athletes to be honored with a 4.0 GPA.
Â
Babic appears on the list for the third-straight time in her career, while Blanco and Stresnakova are each receiving their second consecutive honor. McCray is a first-time honoree.
Â
Twenty-three honorees make up the men's team, while the women's team features 36. Combined, the first team includes 47 selections (17 men and 30 women) with the second team totaling 12 (six men and six women).
Â
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
Â
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
Â
The seventh-ranked Cowgirls takes aim its 15th conference title this weekend as it travels to Austin, Texas, for the Big 12 Championships. Competing as a No. 2 seed, OSU opens play at the tournament against either Oklahoma or Iowa State on Friday at 3 p.m.
