Barrick Wins MOP Honors as Cowgirls Fall in Championship

WACO, Texas – Oklahoma State equestrian's fifth-ranked Equitation Over Fences team came up just short of a title, falling in raw scores, 677-658, to No. 3 Auburn in the Fences National Championship at the National Collegiate Equestrian Championships on Saturday at the Extraco Event Center.
The Cowgirls did receive the Most Outstanding Performer in Equitation Over Fences in senior Carly Barrick. Barrick went 5-0 at the national championships and was also named to the Equitation Over Fences All-Championship Team. She was also named the Big 12 Fences Rider of the Year in March.
The championship came down to the wire, with both teams trading points throughout the competition. After the last rider, the score was tied 2-2, and raw scores decided the winner.
The Cowgirls got their first point on behalf of freshman Abigail Brayman. She went up against a score of 171 and received the highest score of the competition with a 173. Brayman was 3-1 in Fences on the weekend.
OSU's next point came from Barrick, who defeated her counterpart by a 168-166 margin.
The Cowgirls pulled in one Horse of the Year Award for Reining at the end of the competition as Boss earned that honor for the second time in his career.
