Cowgirl Fences Team to Compete for National Championship

WACO, Texas – Oklahoma State equestrian's Equitation Over Fences team knocked off the No. 1 and No. 4 Fences teams to advance to the National Championship meet Friday at the Extraco Event Center.
The fifth-ranked Fences team upset No. 4 SMU, 3-1, in the first meet of the day. Carly Barrick, Abigail Brayman and Hannah Janson won points for the Cowgirls. Brayman received a high score of 170.
They kept their momentum going and knocked off No. 1 Texas A&M. The score was 2-2 and came down to raw scores. The Cowgirls beat the Aggies, 643-639. Janson and Barrick stayed perfect in Fences on the day.
Barrick continued to prove that she is the Big 12 Rider of the Year because she is 4-0 in Fences matchups at the National Championships.
The Cowgirls' Equitation on the Flat team made it all the way to the semifinals, before falling to Auburn. The Cowgirls took down No. 6 Delaware State, 3-0, in the quarterfinals. Brayman, Janson and Pedigo earned the three points for the Cowgirls. They lost, 3-1, to Auburn with Pedigo getting the only point in that matchup.
The Reining team won its quarterfinals matchup against South Dakota State, 3-0. Ebba Lange, Hannah Mitchell and Julia Purus won their matchups against the Jackrabbits.
The Cowgirls then went on to face Auburn in the semifinals, and tied 2-2, but fell in overall raw score. In that matchup, Lange and Purus earned points for the Cowgirls.
The Horsemanship team went up against Big 12 foe, TCU, and lost 3-1. Harley Huff was the only Cowgirl to win a point in the matchup.
The Fences team will look to keep its momentum going and try to upset No. 2 Auburn in the Fences National Championship tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
