Babic Named Big 12 Player of the Week

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State women's tennis senior Vladica Babic has been named Big 12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. It marked her second honor of the season and sixth for a Cowgirl so far this year.
Babic went a perfect 3-0 this weekend in the final home regular season matches of her career. The senior took out No. 17 Gabriela Talaba of Texas Tech for her 10th ranked win of the season and fifth-straight.
Babic also won a pair of matches against TCU, including a straight-set win over Aleksa Cveticanin and a 6-2 doubles win over Donika Bashota and Alexis Pereira to help clinch the doubles point. Both victories were crucial to the Cowgirls winning the 4-3 match over the Horned Frogs.
The Montenegro product is 24-6 overall on the year in singles, boasting a five-match win streak and a 10-6 record against ranked opponents. In doubles, Babic is 22-7 with teammate Sofia Blanco, riding an eight-match win streak.
The Cowgirls will wrap up the regular season this weekend when they travel to take on No. 16 Kansas and Kansas State. OSU will open the weekend Friday at 5 p.m. against the Jayhawks in Lawrence, Kan., before heading to Manhattan, Kan., on Sunday to battle with the Wildcats at 11 a.m.
