March 06, 2018 | Cowboy Basketball
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Oklahoma State seniors Jeffrey Carroll and Mitchell Solomon were named honorable mention Associated Press All-Big 12 Conference by the league's media members.
This is the second straight AP All-Big 12 selection for Carroll, who was named to the second team in 2016-17. The Rowlett, Texas native also earned All-Big 12 honors from the league's coaches after leading the Cowboys with 15.1 points per game this season.
Carroll ranks 21st in school history with 1,333 career points, but is one of just 14 Cowboys to also rank in the top 25 in career rebounding as well. He will finish his OSU career in the top-10 in 3-pointers attempted and made, and his 542 career boards rank 24th among all Cowboys.
Solomon picked up his first career postseason accolade thank to a team-high 6.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. The unquestioned leader of the Cowboy locker room, Solomon averaged 13.0 points on 9-of-14 shooting and 9.0 rebounds in the final week of the season, including the senior-day victory over No. 6 Kansas.
The Bixby, Oklahoma native is one of just eight players in Cowboy basketball history to record 500 career rebounds, 100 career blocks and a shooting percentage of 50 percent or better. He has 13 double-digit scoring performances this season, which are the most by an OSU player listed 6-9 or taller since 2007-08.
Carroll, Solomon and the Cowboys will open postseason play at the Big 12 Championship on Wednesday against the rival Oklahoma Sooners. Tipoff from the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri is slated for 6 p.m. on ESPNU.
