February 20, 2018 | Cowgirl Tennis
STILLWATER – For the second consecutive week, Oklahoma State women's tennis senior Megan McCray has been named Big 12 Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. The Cowgirl won four matches over the weekend to help the OSU to wins over No. 17 Miami and Pacific.
McCray picked up two ranked wins in the Cowgirl victory over Miami, knocking off No. 33 Madcur/Perez-Somarriba with Vladica Babic, 6-1, to clinch the doubles point, then dropping No. 58 Sinead Lohan in straight sets to clinch the OSU win over the Hurricanes. The Cowgirl senior claimed a couple more wins on Sunday over Pacific in a 6-3 win over Vyrlan/Nederstigt and a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Karina Vyrlan in singles.
With her wins, the Cowgirl senior stretches her singles record to 7-1 this season. The recognition marks the second Big 12 weekly honor of her career.
With their next match set for March 14 at No. 10 UCLA, the Cowgirls will enjoy a few weeks off from collegiate competition and set their sights on the Orlando $25k ITF event set for March 4-10 in Lake Nona, Fla.
