Broze Goes Low To Lead Cowgirl Golf In New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – Oklahoma State's Emma Broze put her best foot forward in her spring debut to lead the No. 8 Cowgirl golf team in the first round of the All-State Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship at the English Turn Golf & Country Club.

OSU finished the first round 8-over par 288 and in a tie for ninth place thanks to Broze's opening round. The senior knocked in five birdies to help her score 1-under par 71. She'll enter Monday's second round in a tie for ninth place and just five strokes behind UCF's Kaeli Jones for the lead.

Right behind Broze is freshman Stephanie Astrup, who is tied for 20th place at 1-over 73, which is three strokes shy of tying her career lowest round as a Cowgirl of 70 at the Stanford Intercollegiate.

Cowgirls Chih-Min Chen and Kenzie Neisen both completed their rounds 4-over par and in 46th place. Senior Alexis Sadeghy carded a 7-over par on the day and will enter the second round tied for 71st place on the leaderboard.

Sadeghy will get Monday's second round started for the Cowgirls at 9 a.m. Live scoring can be found at Golfstat.com.
