STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team topped Samford, 82-62, on Wednesday in Gallagher-Iba Arena to remain undefeated on the year and improve to 4-0.
Leading the way for the Cowgirls was sophomore Vivian Gray who finished the game with a total of 20 points and shot 70 percent from the field to go along with three rebounds and three assists.
In the first quarter, Samford knocked down 6-of-7 attempts from behind the arc to lead, 24-15. The Cowgirls got off to a slow start shooting 33 percent from the field and 40 percent from the 3-point line.
Halfway through the second quarter, senior LaTashia Jones forced a turnover then hit a 3-pointer on the ensuing possession, sparking a 10-0 run to give the Cowgirls the lead 31-29 with 2:26 left. Samford hit a pair of free throws taking back the lead at 36-35 entering halftime. Jones finished her night with her third double-double of the season, tallying 14 points and 11 rebounds.
The Cowgirls opened the third quarter with an 8-2 run. Sophomore Braxtin Miller scored nine points in the third, including OSU's last seven points to close out the quarter extending the lead to 60-49. Miller finished the night with 15 points and dished out a career-high eight assists.
Sophomore Jaden Hobbs led the way in the fourth quarter, scoring 11 of her 14 points, a season high, and hitting a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc.
The Cowgirls did most down low scoring 30 points in the paint and out rebound the Bulldogs 39-23. OSU also was able to draw 23 fouls in the game and shot 88.9 percent from the charity stripe.
The Cowgirls' next matchup will be on the road to take on Wichita State at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 27.
