Blanco and Rioux Advance to Doubles Semifinals

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Cowgirl tennis duo Sofia Blanco and Lisa Marie Rioux advanced to the semifinals at the ITA All-American Championships on Thursday. The pair defeated Kansas' Anastasia Rychagova and Sonia Smagina, 8-3 in the quarterfinals bout.
Teammate Katie Stresnakova came up short following a great run at the tournament. She dropped her match with Duke's Kelly Chen, 6-2, 6-4, after going 7-0 through the first six days of play.
The Cowgirl was the only player in the tournament to advance to the round of sixteen from the pre-qualifying round.
Blanco and Rioux are in semifinals action Saturday, taking on Caroline Lampl and Kimberly Yee of Stanford.
