STILLWATER – The eighth-ranked Oklahoma State equestrian team garnered two Rider of the Month honors for October as Abigail Brayman and Hannah Mitchell have been honored for their standout performances, it was released Wednesday by the National Collegiate Equestrian Association.
Brayman won the EquiFit Equitation Over Fences Rider of the Month award after going 3-0 and setting a new career high with a score of 90 at Auburn. Brayman's 90 took home Fences MOP honors against the top-ranked Tigers on the road.
"(Brayman) is a very talented individual and can perform with the best of them," said OSU head coach Larry Sanchez. "When you have a nice horse and you do the best you can with it and when you have her kind of talent, you're going to get those big scores."
The sophomore posted scores of 90, 85 and 80 in October. Brayman hasn't had a sub 80 score since last season in February.
Mitchell, a team captain, collected Shorty's Reining Rider of the Month award. Mitchell also went undefeated in the month of October, going 3-0.
"Hannah is everything that I'd want in a team captain," Sanchez said. "She's a hard worker, and she's always got a great attitude. For her to be as successful as she is in the arena only makes it that much more special."
Mitchell's point against Baylor clinched a comeback win over the third-ranked Bears en route to her earning MOP honors for the meet.
Both Brayman and Mitchell are 3-0-1 on the year.
