Gajewski, Cowgirls Notch Fifth-Straight Fall Win

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State softball team pushed its fall winning streak to five Tuesday with a 19-0 victory over Cowley College at Cowgirl Stadium.
OSU smoked four home runs and scored 12 runs during the first three innings of Wednesday's contest to quickly separate from the Tigers. The Cowgirls added another seven over the final seven frames to complete its dominant outing.
Sophomores Michaela Richbourg and Sydney Pennington provided the early fireworks at Cowgirl Stadium, as they hit back-to-back home runs that gave OSU a 4-0 first-inning lead.
Richbourg's home run - her first of the fall - was a three-run shot that bounced off the light pole on the far side of the fence in left-center field. Pennington's follow-up solo shot was her third of the fall and nearly followed the path of Richbourg's ball to left center.
Rylee Bayless provided the third OSU home run of the evening in the second inning, scorching a two-run opposite-field shot to left center. It was Bayless' second home run of the fall and pushed the Cowgirl lead to 7-0.
Freshman Kiley Naomi completed the home-run quartet in the third inning, as she golfed a pitch on the outside corner to the same spot as the first three did - over the left-center field fence.
In the circle, Samantha Clakley handled starting duties for the Pokes and was dynamic from the start.
Clakley surrendered a leadoff single, but only allowed three more baserunners over her five innings of work. She held Cowley County scoreless during her time toeing the rubber and struck out nine Tigers in the process.
Behind her, Tennessee transfer Gabby Sprang struck out two batters in her one inning of action and junior Logan Simunek polished off the shutout with eight strikeouts in four dominant innings of relief work.
Oklahoma State will wrap up its fall schedule Wednesday night when the Cowgirls face Butler Community College. First pitch at Cowgirl Stadium is set for 5:30 p.m. CT.
