Stresnakova to Play for Chance at Main Draw

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Katie Stresnakova positioned herself for a shot at the main draw Tuesday, going 2-0 on the day at the ITA All-American Championships.
Stresnakova started off the day for the Cowgirls, defeating Jaclyn Switkes of Illinois, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. The senior nabbed her second match later in the day when she bested Virginia's Meghan Kelley, 6-2, 6-7(6), 6-3.
Lisa Marie Rioux and Marina Guinart were in qualifying draw action as well. Rioux picked up a win over Rianna Valdes (USC), 6-2, 6-2, before she fell short Tuesday evening, dropping a match to Michigan's Giulia Pairone, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
Guinart fell to Texas Tech's Felicity Maltby in her first match, 1-6, 6-4, 7-5. The Cowgirl rebounded to defeat Sabina Machalova (Ole Miss), 6-4, 6-2, later in the day.
Stresnakova will play for a position in the main draw, and Guinart is set to finish play with one match tomorrow.
