STILLWATER – Oklahoma State women's tennis junior Katarina Stresnakova has been named Big 12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. Stresnakova is the first Cowgirl to be honored this season.
Â
Helping OSU to a 3-0 start with wins over Abilene Christian, Oral Roberts and Wyoming, Stresnakova went a combined 5-0 in singles and doubles in the Cowgirls' first three dual matches of the 2018 season this weekend.
Â
In three singles wins, Stresnakova gave up only four total games while outscoring her opponents, 36-4. Meanwhile in doubles, she picked up a couple of wins playing in the Nos. 2 and 3 spots with teammates Marina Guinart and Sami Court.
Â
Stresnakova has posted a 14-4 overall record in singles action so far this year with a combined 8-4 overall mark in doubles. Tuesday's recognition marks the Cowgirl junior's first career weekly conference honor.
Â
The Cowgirls will face their toughest test yet this season when they host the ITA Kickoff Weekend, beginning Friday with a bout against No. 24 Arizona State at 4 p.m. If victorious, OSU will then face the winner of the TCU-Ole Miss matchup Saturday at 3 p.m. for a spot in the ITA National Indoor Championships.
