Cowgirls Open 2018 Spring Slate at Individual Tournaments

STILLWATER – The majority of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team serves up the 2018 spring schedule this weekend at the Freeman Memorial Tennis Classic, which begins Friday in Las Vegas, Nev. Meanwhile Cowigirl senior Megan McCray will compete at the USTA National Campus Pro Tennis Classic.

Freeman Memorial Tennis Classic Information

The Cowgirls will bring Vladica Babic, Marina Guinart, Sofia Blanco and Katarina Stresnakova to Vegas for the Freeman Memorial Tennis Classic.
Â
The event will feature a stacked field, as seven preseason top 25 teams are set to make appearances at the event. Aside from No. 16 Oklahoma State, these squads include No. 1 Stanford, No. 3 Florida, No. 5 North Carolina, No. 6 Pepperdine, No. 12 Texas and No. 17 UCLA. Host school UNLV will also be competing.

Action begins with doubles each day at noon CT on Friday and Saturday with the finals scheduled for Sunday. No live scoring for the event will be available. The event features two flights each of both singles and doubles.

McCray Receives Wild Card Invite to Play at the USTA National Campus Pro Tennis Classic

Cowgirl senior Megan McCray will compete at the $25,000 USTA National Campus Pro Tennis Classic in Lake Nona, Fla., this weekend. The event is set for Jan. 13-21 at the USTA National Campus.

The tournament features a 32-player singles main draw and 16-team doubles main draw, with the qualifying draws consisting of 64 and four, respectively.

New Faces

Head coach Chris Young announced the arrival of two new Cowgirls to the OSU women's tennis roster on Wednesday. Senior Megan McCray and freshman Shir Hornung will join the Pokes beginning with the 2018 spring season.
Â
Oklahoma State fans will remember Megan McCray from her freshman season with the Cowgirls in 2014. The Oceanside, Calif., native went 23-13 in singles competing primarily in the No. 2 spot for the Pokes that season, helping guide OSU to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. An All-Big 12 selection, McCray became the 10th Cowglrl freshman to reach the 20-win mark in the Big 12 era.

Shir Hornung comes to Stillwater from Tel Aviv, Israel and will open the 2018 spring season as a freshman. She is currently ranked No. 9 overall by Universal Tennis.
