Three Cowgirls Appear in ITA Preseason Rankings

STILLWATER – Three members of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team appear in the 2017 preseason individual rankings, released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tuesday.
Senior Vladica Babic, along with juniors Sofia Blanco and Katarina Stresnakova each appear in the ITA singles rankings, while Babic and Blanco are ranked together in doubles.
Babic and Blanco are ranked No. 15 in the doubles poll, despite having not played together last season. Babic went 23-8 overall with former Cowgirl Carla Tur Mari last season, including eight ranked wins and a 14-6 dual record in the No. 1 spot. Blanco won a team-high 25 matches with Aliona Bolsova during the 2016-17 campaign, competing primarily in the No. 2 spot with a 14-3 dual record.
The highest-ranked Cowgirl in singles, Babic comes in at No. 43 in the latest rankings after the Montenegro native racked up a 20-11 overall mark last season.
Blanco reached her highest career spot in the ranking at No. 81. The Cowgirl junior will look to build on an 18-6 campaign in 2017 that included an 8-3 dual record.
Coming in at No. 113, Stresnakova will enter her junior season ranked as well. The Cowgirl capped off a 24-7 sophomore season with a 14-match win streak to open the 2017 dual season, and will look to keep her momentum rolling into the upcoming campaign.
Due to weather conditions, the Cowgirls will not be traveling to the Bahamas to compete at the Albany Collegiate Invitational this weekend as previously scheduled.
