NORMAN, Okla. – Four members of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team have been named to the Big 12 All-Tournament team, the league announced on Monday.
The Cowgirls received two selections in singles and one selection in doubles, with Aliona Bolsova (No. 3) and Vladica Babic (No. 4) earning singles recognition and the senior tandem of Katarina Adamovic and Viktoriya Lushkova (No. 3) taking doubles honors.
Bolsova went 2-0 on the weekend in the No. 3 spot, picking up a 6-0, 6-0 shutout victory over No. 114 Rhiann Newborn in the Cowgirls' 4-2 semifinal win over Baylor before notching a crucial comeback three-set win over Texas Tech's Alex Valenstein in the Big 12 finals. The freshman leads the Cowgirls in overall wins this season with an impressive 28 thus far.
Babic also went 2-0 at the tournament, competing on line four for OSU. Babic dropped Baylor's Angie Shakhraichuk in the tournament semifinals before wrapping up the weekend with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Red Raider Sabrina Federici on Sunday. The Cowgirl junior has won five-straight matches to boost her overall record to 19-8 this season.
Lushkova and Adamovic were selected to the all-tournament team at the No. 3 position despite not finishing a match at the event. The pair won by default over Kansas on Friday in the Big 12 quarterfinals, as the Jayhawks were unable to field a complete lineup. The duo was leading Texas Tech's Alex Valenstein and Alba Cortina-Pou, 5-2, as doubles play was suspended on Sunday. Lushkova and Adamovic are 16-3 on the season thus far, having won five straight and nine of their last 10.
The Cowgirls will learn their NCAA Tournament fate on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. CT.
