April 08, 2017 | Cowgirl Softball
COLLEGE STATION, Texas ---- Oklahoma State softball was defeated by No. 5 Texas A&M Saturday, 9-1, in five innings at the Aggie Softball Complex. The Aggies hit three home runs on their way to scoring in every inning to secure the series victory.
Â
Oklahoma State's offensive bright spot came in the top of the third thanks to a Rylee Bayless solo home run to center to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Â
"We just need to get back out here tomorrow and get this team back on a good roll," head coach Kenny Gajewski said. "This is three in a row we've lost. It's obviously been to two really good teams but I feel like we're a really good team. We just have to show that."
Â
Oklahoma State (25-14) found itself trailing early after an Aggie home run in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead.
Â
Texas A&M (35-3) extended its lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the second with a two-run home run to center.
Â
Bayless got the Cowgirls on the board in the top of the third with a leadoff home run to cut the deficit to 3-1 but it wouldn't be enough.
Â
A&M extend its lead in the bottom of the third and fourth to take the 9-1 it wouldn't surrender on its way to the run-rule victory.
Â
Taylor Lynch finished 2-for-3 at the plate, while Bayless was 1-for-3 with the home run. Shippy was accounted for the other two OSU hits going 2-for-3.
Â
Shea Coats (5-6) took the loss for the Cowgirls in the circle, going 2.2 innings. She allowed five runs on three hits and had a strikeout.
