IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State Equestrian's Miranda Reed and Hannah Mitchell were honored as Big 12 Conference Riders of the Month for March, it was announced by the league today.
This is the second Big 12 Rider of the Month honor for each Cowgirl as Reed won last November while Mitchell grabbed her second-consecutive Big 12 Rider of the Month award.
Reed was awarded the honor in Horsemanship. The senior had an outstanding March, going 3-0-1 and winning the Most Outstanding Performer award at the Big 12 Championship for Horsemanship. She also posted a career-high score of 77.5 at New Mexico State, defeating NMSU's Katlynn Crine, 77.5-74, to mark the highest score of any competitor. At the Big 12 Championship, Reed won both of her matchups, defeating Marah Huston of TCU, 149.5-132, and knocking off Baylor's Aspen Crew, 147-136.5.
Mitchell grabbed the Reining honor as she continued to dominate her opponents with a 3-0-1 record for the month of March. Mitchell won both of her regular season matchups against New Mexico State and Fresno State, snagging MOP honors for both wins. At the Big 12 Championships, Mitchell's opponent, TCU's Brooke Boyle, was granted a re-ride, and Mitchell answered with a win, defeating Boyle by 11.5 points, 142.5-131. The win clinched the Reining discipline for the Cowgirls and gave Mitchell her 10th win of the year.
