Senior Salute: Viktoriya Lushkova
April 12, 2017 | Cowgirl Tennis
Following the conclusion of the 2017 season, senior Viktoriya Lushkova will leave the Oklahoma State women's tennis team as one of the most decorated players in school history.
Lushkova's resume speaks for itself. The Simferopol, Ukraine, native is a two-time All-American, six-time All-Big 12 recipient and the 2015 Big 12 Player of the Year, just to name a few of her numerous accomplishments.
Skimming through the OSU program record books, it isn't hard to find Lushkova's name smattered about the pages either.
With 93 career singles wins, Viktoriya Lushkova is currently second on the Big 12 era career list, and only one win away from sealing the No. 1 spot. She is sixth on the doubles Big 12 era list with 87 career wins. Boasting an outstanding 93-24 overall singles record, Lushkova's .810 career win percentage ranks third all-time in program history. She is the first player since Kate Vasylyeva in 2003 to break onto that list.
Last season, Lushkova turned in one of the best statistical seasons in program history, racking up 32 singles wins and 34 doubles wins, both of which rank as the highest respective singles and doubles win totals by a Cowgirl since the inception of the Big 12.
Lushkova's dominant junior season was key to the Cowgirls recording the best campaign in program history with an NCAA Runner-Up finish to go along with their first Big 12 Championship since 2003. She was named the Most Outstanding Performer at the Big 12 Championships, prior to earning selections in both singles and doubles on the NCAA All-Tournament team.
With runs to the NCAA singles bracket round of 16 as a freshman and sophomore, Lushkova is only the second multiple-time singles All-American in program history, and the first since Renata Beranski in 1987.
On Tuesday, Lushkova eclipsed the highest singles ranking in program history for the second straight week, coming in at No. 6 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles poll. She is currently 20-8 overall on the season, her third consecutive 20-win campaign. Over the course of her career, she has racked up an impressive 23 wins over ranked foes.
Lushkova will be difficult to replace as the Cowgirl tennis team moves forward next season; however, she and her fellow seniors have done plenty to ensure that the last four years will be far more difficult to forget.
