Cowgirls Move to No. 8 in ITA Rankings

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team moved up a spot to No. 8 in this week's national team rankings, released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Tuesday. Senior Viktoriya Lushkova also eclipsed a new program-high singles ranking, coming in at No. 6 in this week's poll.

The Cowgirls (17-4, 5-1 Big 12) are coming off a pair of home sweeps last weekend, as the squad dropped Kansas State and No. 23 Kansas at the Greenwood Tennis Center. The wins marked OSU's ninth and 10 sweeps of the season.

With her new position in the ITA singles poll, Lushkova bested her previous mark of No. 7 in last week's rankings for a new program record. The Cowgirl senior is 20-8 on the season with a 9-7 record against ranked opponents and a 10-4 mark in dual action.

Along with Lushkova, four other Cowgirls appear in this week's singles rankings, while four OSU doubles teams are ranked as well.

Freshman Aliona Bolsova comes in at No. 57 in this week's singles rankings, followed by senior Katarina Adamovic at No. 61. Junior Vladica Babic is up three spots to No. 64 in the poll after a pair of wins last weekend, while senior Carla Tur Mari is slotted at No. 101.

In doubles, Babic and Tur Mari hold steady at No. 9 to lead the Cowgirls. Bolsova and sophomore Sofia Blanco jump a spot to No. 33 this week. Lushkova and Adamovic come in at No. 54. Adamovic and Babic also appear in the poll at No. 22.

OSU is one of four Big 12 schools to be ranked in the top 25 this week. Aside from the ninth-ranked Cowgirls, Texas Tech (No. 8), Baylor (No. 15) and Texas (No. 24) are also represented.

The Cowgirls will host No. 34 Oklahoma Friday at 5 p.m. at the Greenwood Tennis Center. The match will also serve as Senior Day, where the team will honor seniors Katarina Adamovic, Carla Tur Mari and Viktoriya Lushkova.
