OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team saw its run at the Big 12 Championship come to an end on Saturday night with a 71-60 loss at the hands of No. 12 Texas inside Chesapeake Energy Arena.
The Cowgirls dipped to 17-14 with the loss, while the Longhorns improved to 23-7.
After OSU sophomore Karli Wheeler opened the game with a 3-pointer, Texas went on a 13-2 run over the next three minutes. The Cowgirls pulled within two at 19-17, but could get no closer. The Longhorns knocked down a 3-pointer with a minute remaining in the half to push the margin to double figures for the first time at 37-26 before OSU scored the final six points of the half to get within seven.
Junior Kaylee Jensen pulled OSU within four to open the third period with an old-fashioned 3-point play before Texas Answered with a 19-2 run to stretch the margin to 56-35 with less than two minutes remaining in the quarter.
In the fourth, the Cowgirls chipped away and got within single digits after a jumper from LaTashia Jones cut the deficit to 65-56 with three minutes remaining.
Jensen finished with a game-high 18 points and nine rebounds, while Jones added 11 points off the bench. Senior Diana Omozee also reached double figures with 10 points.
