Cowgirls’ Season Comes To An End With WNIT Loss

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team saw its season come to a close on Thursday night in the opening round of the WNIT with a 66-56 loss against Abilene Christian in front of 1,423 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
For the Cowgirls, who finished the campaign with a 17-15 mark, the loss was their first in 12 home games all time in WNIT and snapped a 55 game home winning streak overall against non-conference opponents.
OSU got out of the gate quickly, taking a 13-3 lead before the Wildcats (23-8) answered with a 13-2 run over the final 6:44 of the first quarter to lead, 16-15.
The Wildcats led for the duration of the second, but never by more than four until Alexis Mason banked in a long 3-pointer at the buzzer to send ASU into the locker room with a 28-23 lead.
In the third quarter, the Wildcats buried a trey with 3:48 remaining to lead by double digits for the first time at 41-31 and pushed the margin to 12 on a pair of occasions before eventually taking a 49-41 lead into the final quarter.
The Cowgirls cut the margin to eight twice in the final quarter, but could get no closer.
Junior Kaylee Jensen led all scorers with 26 points and added a team-high seven rebounds.
ACU had five players score in double figures with Lizzy Dimba leading the way with 16 points.
