Track and Field Announces Outdoor Schedule
March 13, 2017 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track, Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State track and field program released its 2017 outdoor track and field schedule that features returns to the Golden State and the NCAA Outdoor Championships scheduled for June 7-10, director of track and field and cross country Dave Smith announced Monday.
Less than a week after completing the indoor season, OSU ventures east to the Tulsa Duels to open the season. At last year's meet, then newcomer Megan Honas set the school record in the javelin, which was enough to advance her to her first NCAA regional later that year.
The Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, California, has been a highlight on the OSU schedule for the past few years and Smith's squads return to the meet that produced seven 2016 NCAA Preliminary Rounds qualifying marks, March 31.
OSU's trip to the Stanford Invitational is just the team's first to California of 2017, as the Pokes head to the Mt. SAC Relays, Cardinal Classic and Bryan Clay Invitational all in April.
The Drake Relays and Arkansas Twilight wrap up the regular season before OSU's conference showdown in the Sunflower State May 12.
At last year's Big 12 Outdoor Championships, both the Cowboys and Cowgirls finished sixth as Ingeborg Loevnes and Aurora Dybedokken won titles for the women, and Cerake Geberkidane, Craig Nowak and Nick Miller won for the men.
The NCAA West Preliminary Rounds are back in Austin, Texas, after last year's stint in Lawrence, Kansas, and the NCAA Outdoor Championships conclude the season June 7-10 in Track Town, USA – Eugene, Oregon.
