Cowgirls’ Streak Against Kansas Comes To An End

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team saw its 10-game winning streak against Kansas come to an end on Wednesday night with a 67-49 loss to the Jayhawks in front of 2,376 fans inside Allen Fieldhouse.
The Cowgirls (13-10 Big 12, 3-9 Big 12), who had won seven in a row in Lawrence, last lost to KU on Feb. 23, 2011.
Kansas (8-16, 2-11) scored the game's first eight points and never looked back. The Jayhawks held a 14-6 lead after the first period with all six of OSU's points coming courtesy of junior Kaylee Jensen.
The Jayhawks pushed the lead to double figures early in the second period and OSU never got closer than nine before KU took a 29-15 lead into the halftime locker room. For the half, the Cowgirls shot just 21 percent, connecting on five of their 24 field-goal attempts. OSU shot 31 percent (16-52) in the game.
In the second half, the Cowgirls would never get closer than 13. After a layup by junior Mandy Coleman with 3:41 to go in the third pulled OSU within 39-26, The Jayhawks answered with an 8-0 run to stretch the margin to 21.
Coleman finished as the game's leading scorer with 19 points and also pulled a game-best 13 rebounds for her second double-double in a row.
Jensen narrowly missed her 13th double-double, finishing with 11 points and nine rebounds.
The Cowgirls will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Morgantown, W.V., to face West Virginia at 5:30 p.m.
