STILLWATER – Jawun Evans scored 16 points and added six rebounds and five assists in Oklahoma State's 72-69 loss to Baylor on Wednesday night.
Jeffrey Carroll put-up 20 points against the Bears, and Phil Forte, III, added 11 including a crucial 3-pointer with 2:04 left in the game.
Davon Dillard put up nine points and five rebounds for the Cowboys.
The Bears led by 13 points with 4:13 to play, but Oklahoma State's pressure defense made it a game. The Cowboys used a 12-0 run over 3:34 to make it a one-point ballgame. The Cowboys could have taken the lead in the final minute, but Baylor's Jo Lual-Acuil blocked Evans' layup. After Baylor's Manu Lecomte made two free throws with 14.7 seconds to play, Evans and Forte missed 3-point attempts that could have tied the game for OSU.
Johnathan Motley led the Bears in scoring with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Lecomte added 15 points and four assists.
OSU has faced AP top-10 opponents in back-to-back games for the first time since the 2004 NCAA Tournament, and earned a split thanks to Saturday's 82-75 win at No. 7 West Virginia.
The loss to Baylor ended OSU's five-game winning streak. The win streak was the team's longest after the turn of the New Year since a seven-game streak in 2012-13.
Up Next:
The Cowboys will face Texas on Saturday, Feb. 11 in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m. on ESPN2.
