Cowgirls Close Regular Season With 61-48 Loss At Iowa State

AMES, Iowa – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team closed out its regular season on Monday night with a 61-48 loss against Iowa State in front of 10,334 fans inside Hilton Coliseum.
With the loss, OSU finished the regular season at 16-13 overall and 6-12 in league play, while ISU improved to 18-11 and 9-9.
The Cowgirls scored the game's first four points, but endured a scoring drought of more than five minutes in the opening period, while the Cyclones used a 17-2 run to take control early. ISU held a 19-8 lead after the opening 10 minutes.
The Cyclones built their lead to 19 before the Cowgirls used a 7-0 run capped by a board and putback from senior Katelyn Loecker to get back into the contest. During that stretch, OSU held ISU scoreless for more than four minutes. Despite making just one of their final 10 shots of the half, the Cyclones held a 33-22 lead at the break.
OSU cut the margin to single digits with the first basket of the second half, but the Cyclones answered with the next four points of the game. The Cowgirls were then held to a 2-of-11 effort to close the period, allowing ISU to extend its margin to 51-34 heading into the fourth.
The Cyclones scored the first six points of the fourth quarter to push the lead above 20. OSU chipped away, using a 7-0 run to get within 59-46 with three minutes to go, but could get no closer.
ISU's Seanna Johnson led all scorers with 18 points to go with 14 rebounds, while Kaylee Jensen scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds to lead OSU.
The Cowgirls will be back in action this weekend when they begin play at the Big 12 Championship in Oklahoma City.
