Cowgirls Pick Up Pair Of Exhibition Wins

TULSA – Oklahoma State opened the spring exhibition season Saturday with a pair of wins, defeating Missouri Southern, 3-0, and host Oral Roberts, 1-0.

Anna Beffer led the Cowgirls with a pair of goals against Missouri Southern, scoring just before intermission and then again 11:30 minutes into the second half on an assist by Charme' Morgan, whose initial shot was blocked. OSU's final goal came with only seconds remaining in the match as Allie Rivers' score put an exclamation point on the victory.

Combining for the shutout in goal were Michela Ongaro, who played the opening half, and Tanya de Souza, who blanked MSU in the second.

OSU defeated the host Golden Eagles in the second match as the Cowgirls tallied an own goal 23 minutes into the contest.

The Cowgirls' goal came off a corner kick when Beffer sent the ball to Julia Lenhardt, who delivered it into the box. Under pressure from Marlo Zoller and Rivers, an ORU defender tapped it in to give OSU the 1-0 lead.

The duo of Ongaro and de Souza once again combined for the shutout in goal.

OSU returns to spring action March 4 at Tulsa.
