Texas Tech Postgame Notes
February 25, 2017 | Cowboy Basketball
- The win over Texas Tech secured the 35th 20-win season in OSU history, and the first since 2013-14. In the last decade, only the 2012-13 squad (March 23) would have secured their 20th win faster than this year's team.
- The victory gives OSU wins in 10 of their last 11 games, including five straight, which is the program's most prosperous stretch after the turn of the New Year since the 2012-13 squad won 10-of-11 in Big 12 play.
- The Cowboys won both regular season meetings with Texas Tech for the first time since 2012-13, and for the ninth time in the Big 12 era.
- As a team, the Cowboys were 22-of-22 from the free throw line, which is the best single-game performance in school history.
- A Jeffrey Carroll break-away dunk capped off a 20-4 run and increased OSU's lead to 24-11 with 9:06 remaining. The Cowboys led by 18 at the half.
- Phil Forte was 5-of-7 from 3-point in the first half. The last OSU player to make more 3-pointers in a half than Forte was Markel Brown, who made seven at Texas Tech on Feb. 13, 2013.
- Forte finished the night with five 3-pointers, which upped his career total to 321. That total is tops in OSU history, and sixth in Big 12 history.
- The Cowboys to 20-9 on the year and 9-7 in Big 12 play, which is remarkable considering OSU was in last place in the Big 12 and riding a 6-game losing streak on Jan. 18.
- The Cowboys turned the ball over 20 times, which are the second most by the Cowboys this season.
- Mitchell Solomon has made 29 of his last 31 attempts from the free throw line, and is shooting 84.6 percent in Big 12 Conference play. That mark would rank third in the league if he had enough attempts.
- OSU is 16-5 when leading at the half this season.
- Cowboy head coach Brad Underwood is now 109-23 on his career. That moves his win percentage to .826, which is tops among all active coaches.
- Oklahoma State increased its lead in the overall series with Texas Tech. The Cowboys now lead the series 43-19, including a 22-4 mark in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
- The Cowboys will head to Iowa State to take on the Cyclones on Tuesday. Tipoff from Ames, Iowa is slated for 8 p.m. on ESPN2.
