Cowgirls No. 6 in First ITA Computer Rankings

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team held steady at No. 6 in the season's first computerized team rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tuesday afternoon. The Cowgirls (8-3) also boast six players ranked in singles and four ranked doubles teams.

Senior Viktoriya Lushkova moved up one spot to No. 9 in this week's single's rankings, marking not only a career high, but also the highest individual ranking by a Cowgirl in school history.

Following a weekend in which she knocked off Florida's No. 23 Anna Danilina, freshman Aliona Bolsova made the biggest jump of any Cowgirl in this week's rankings, moving from unranked to No. 54. It marks her first time to appear in the poll.

Also appearing in the singles rankings for OSU this week are Carla Tur Mari (No. 46), Vladica Babic (No. 50), Katarina Adamovic (No. 56) and Sofia Blanco (No. 101).

In doubles, Vladica Babic and Carla Tur Mari remained in the top 10, coming in at No. 6 this week after a couple of wins last weekend, including a 6-4 win over then-No. 18 Brooke Austin and Kourtney Keegan of Florida.

Although unranked in the last set of rankings, Aliona Bolsova and Sofia Blanco moved up to No. 31 this week. The pair has been impressive this year, racking up an 18-5 overall record with a 7-1 mark in dual matches.

The senior tandem of Viktoriya Lushkova and Katarina Adamovic also jumped into the poll for the first time this season at No. 34. Lushkova and Adamovic had a stellar weekend in Florida with a 2-0 mark together that included a win over No. 17 Josie Kuhlman and Belinda Woolcock to clinch the doubles point over the Gators.

Adamovic and Babic also appear together at No. 17 in the doubles rankings.

OSU is joined in the top 25 by Texas Tech (No. 5), Baylor (No. 10), Kansas (No. 14) and TCU (No. 15). The Big 12 also has four players ranked in the singles top 25 and a pair of doubles teams ranked in the top 10.

The Cowgirls will enjoy an off weekend next week before heading to Seattle, Wash., March 3-4 for a couple of matches against No. 34 Washington and No. 32 Northwestern.
