Cowgirls No. 6 in ITA Team Rankings

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team dropped one spot to No. 6 in this week's team rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Wednesday.
The Cowgirls (8-1) are coming off a weekend at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in New Haven, Conn., where they advanced to the event's quarterfinals for the first time in school history. OSU dropped then-No. 19 Ole Miss, 4-0, in the first round before coming up short in a 4-3 match against No. 7 Ohio State. The Cowgirls would go on to defeat No. 8 California, 4-2, in a consolation bout that served as a rematch of the 2016 NCAA semifinals.
With this week's rankings, the Cowgirls have spent 46 consecutive weeks in the ITA top 25, and seven straight in the top 10. The last time OSU was outside the top 25 was March 18, 2014.
OSU is one of three Big 12 schools to appear in the top 25 this week, with Texas Tech jumping five spots to No. 7 and Texas moving up two spots to No. 16. Baylor is receiving votes this week's poll as well.
The Cowgirls now set their sights on a huge weekend in Florida that will present the team's toughest tests of the 2017 season. The weekend will begin in Lake Nona, Fla., on Friday at 6 p.m. ET where OSU will face No. 5 Stanford in a national championship rematch before heading to Gainesville on Saturday for a match against the top-ranked Florida Gators at 4 p.m. ET.
