Cowgirls Handle South Dakota State, 12-4

BROOKINGS, South Dakota – The No. 4-ranked Oklahoma State Equestrian team defeated South Dakota State, 12-4, Friday at the DeHaan Equestrian Center.
The Cowgirls won every event today, only allowing SDSU one point in each of the four events. OSU also took home all four MOPs on the day as Maggie Drysch won in Equitation on the Flat, Jorden Davis won in Equitation over Fences, Sarah Miller won in Horsemanship and Hannah Mitchell took home her second-straight MOP honor in Reining.
"I am very proud of the way we rode today," OSU head coach Larry Sanchez said. "They were aggressive and very smart with their decisions."
Davis made a statement to start the day that carried through the rest of the match. The senior scored an 85 on Equitation over Fences to win her point, and the Cowgirls would go on to win Fences, 3-1.
Davis also won her Equitation on the Flat matchup against SDSU's Taylor Duerr, 87-83. Both Drysch and Carly Barrick won their points in Equitation on the Flat to take the event, 3-1.
Mitchell has now won five-straight Reining matchups after she defeated SDSU's Nicole Harvey, 68.5-64.5. Julia Purus and Danielle Cohen also won their Reining points to give the Cowgirls a 6-2 lead after two events.
Miller, Kirsten Chamberland and Libby Collins propelled the Cowgirls to the win in Horsemanship. Miller had the highest score in the event with a 71.5 to defeat SDSU's Victoria Johnston's score of 70.5.
The Cowgirls return home to Totusek Arena to take on TCU on Feb. 17 at 10 a.m.
