Cowgirl Tennis Recognized for Academic Excellence
November 09, 2017 | Cowgirl Tennis
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team was once again recognized for its academic success on Wednesday as the NCAA's Graduation Success Rate (GSR) was released. For the 13th consecutive six-year cycle, the program posted a perfect score of 100.
Â
"I am proud of the many things our program has accomplished both on and off the court," Young said. "This benchmark shows our commitment to academic success and the importance we place on helping our athletes excel also as students. We have an amazing staff in our academic center who help each student athlete achieve success here at Oklahoma State."
Â
The data is based on a six-year cycle, meaning this year's numbers reflect student-athletes who entered their respective schools for the 2010-11 academic year. The graduation rate is based on a comparison of the number of students who entered a college or university in a single year (in this case, the 2010-11 academic year) and the number of those who graduated within six years.Â
Â
As a department, counting a potential 13 sports, 10 Oklahoma State athletic programs either showed improvement or maintained last year's performance.
Â
The recognition marks the latest in a long string of academic honors for the program, which was named an All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association last summer, along with six Cowgirls being named Scholar Athletes.
Â
OSU wrapped up its collegiate fall season last week, but several Cowgirls will travel to Norman next week to compete at the Norman $25k ITF Tournament.
