Cowgirls Win Four on First Day at Dickie V Clay Court Classic

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – Oklahoma State women's tennis players Katarina Stresnakova and Marina Guinart wrapped up the first day of play at the Dickie V Clay Court Classic Friday at the Lakewood Ranch Athletic Club.
Overall, the Cowgirls went 4-1 on the day with Marina Guinart advancing to the singles quarterfinals and the pair advancing to the doubles semifinals.
After receiving a bye in the first round, Guinart and Stresnakova made quick work of the Virginia Tech tandem of Juliana Rocha Cardoso and Jessica Cortes, winning 8-3. The Cowgirls will compete for a spot in the finals on Saturday, matching up with Central Florida's Monica Matias and Natalia Serrano.
Seeded fourth, Guinart picked up a pair of straight-set wins on Friday, beginning with a 6-2, 6-1 first round win over South Florida's Jessica Cortes. The Cowgirl newcomer then clinched a spot in the quarterfinals in a 6-1, 6-0 drubbing of Liberty's Maria Elena Medina Betancourt. Guinart will take on Natalia Serrano of Central Florida on Satruday for a trip to the semifinals.
After dropping a 6-3, 6-2 match to UCF's Monica Matias, Stresnakova bounced back in consolation play by defeating Florida Gulf Coast's Maha Ornberg,, 6-2, 6-0. She will play South Florida's Alexandria Mjos on Saturday in the consolation quarterfinals.
