BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Oklahoma State men's basketball team lost its first game of the season, 72-55, to No. 16 Texas A&M on Monday night in the Legends Classic opener at the Barclays Center.
Although the cowboys started off slow shooting the ball, they stayed in the game by dominating the offensive boards in the first half, outrebounding the Aggies 10-2 and 17-9 for the game.
The Cowboys defense disrupted the Aggies offense and forced 19 turnovers in the game.
The Cowboys started the second half with a 16-4 run, which cut the Aggies lead to 10.
Brandon Averette led the Cowboys in scoring with 10 points. It's the fourth time this season he has finished in double figures.
Tavarius Shine finished with eight points and eight boards, one rebound shy of his career high.
Jeffrey Carroll returned to the Cowboys lineup for the first time this season and finished with four points and three rebounds.
The Cowboys will play the loser of Penn State-Pittsburg game. Tipoff is at 2:30 at the Barclays Center.
